Update: We’re building something huge for your engineering toolkit

Because manually dimensioning holes in 2025 should be illegal.

Hey engineers & machinists,

Quick break from our usual programming — progress update from the Drafter.

From the beginning, our promise has been simple: build tools that are actually useful for engineers — not flashy dashboards or endless dropdowns, but the kind of stuff that saves time, reduces errors, and makes the job easier where it counts. The moments where you’re squinting at your screen at 11pm wondering, “Wait… did I update the drawing before OR after changing the model?”

We’re still on that path. And our current big project? Automating 2D engineering drawings.

We’ve heard from hundreds of you — drawings are tedious. But unfortunately they’re also necessary. They eat up time, introduce inconsistencies, and somehow still end up missing a critical tolerance when they hit the shop floor. So we’re building a tool that takes your 3D model and turns it into a well-dimensioned, GD&T-happy, drawing-ready-for-release — automatically, in minutes.

No, it’s not magic. But it might feel like it.

Right now, we’re deep in development — and it’s working. Not vaporware, not “coming soon” in six years. We’ve got a product thats generating full drawings. The kind with real datums, real feature control frames, real manufacturing context baked in. And we’re tuning it every day with help from engineers across aerospace, automotive, robotics, and a few who just really love a good tolerance stack.

We’re Looking for more Design Partners

We’ve already learned so much just by talking to all of you — your drawing pain points, your workarounds. That feedback has shaped every step of what we’re building.

We want to keep going that way. That’s why we’re looking for 5 new Design Partners to give early feedback and help shape the product. If you want to help us build a tool that fits your workflow like a glove, this is your chance to get in early and influence what we ship next.

Now Offering In-Person GD&T Training

We’re also offering in-person GD&T training for engineering teams who want to level up their drawing skills, standardize how they apply tolerances, or finally understand MMC without looking it up every time.

This training is hands-on, practical, and tailored to the kind of work you actually do.

📩 Interested in training for your team? Reach out to [email protected] and we’ll make it happen.

We’ll be sharing more soon, but until then, stay tuned for more helpful engineering resources and tools coming your way.

More soon,

— The Drafter Team

P.S. Got a drawing horror story? Send it our way. We’re collecting them like Pokémon.
