We’re hiring an Applied Mechanical Product Engineer at Drafter.
This is a high-ownership role for a practicing mechanical engineer who wants to use their engineering judgment across a much wider range of products, teams, and industries.
You’ll work directly with Drafter’s founders, product team, and engineering team to turn real-world mechanical engineering expertise into better tools for hardware development.
One day, you might be thinking through how a robotics team communicates design intent to a supplier. The next, you could be helping improve workflows for teams building rocket ships, energy systems, medical devices, or something we haven’t heard of yet.
The role goes beyond supporting a single product line. You’ll help shape how Drafter works, what we build next, and how thousands of engineers bring critical hardware to market.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has strong, practical mechanical engineering experience
Understands drawings, GD&T, manufacturing, and the messy reality between CAD and finished parts
Enjoys breaking down complicated engineering problems
Wants to work closely with product and software teams
Is excited to help build the tools they wish they had earlier in their career
You do not need to be a software engineer. You do need to be curious, opinionated, and comfortable saying, “technically, that drawing is legal, but I would still never send it to a shop.”

We’ve also added our AI Redliner, our ASME trained drawing redlining tool. Upload a drawing and it will review it for potential GD&T, dimensioning, and manufacturability issues.
