We just added a free Fixed Fastener Condition Tolerance Calculator to the Drafter Toolbox.

The Fixed Fastener Formula tells you your Total Tolerance Budget: the maximum wiggle room available before a bolt starts interfering with the side of a hole. Because the fastener is fixed, threaded or pressed into one component, that clearance has to be divided across both mating parts.

It’s a simple but useful way to check how much positional variation your assembly can actually tolerate before fit becomes a problem.

This is the first calculator in the Toolbox, and we want to add a new one biweekly. Check out the calculator and vote on what we build next, so the tools we ship are the ones engineers actually want.

5 minute engineering drawings with Drafter

Drafter helps engineers get to manufacturing faster.

Go from 3D model to manufacturing-ready 2D drawing in minutes, with clear, shop-ready documentation and proper GD&T. We’re focused on closing the gap between design and manufacturing so teams can spend less time drafting and more time building.

We’d love your feedback. If there are tools or resources you want us to build next, let us know.

Happy engineering,

The Drafter Team
